After designing and manufacturing quality children's clothing for fine specialty stores throughout the United States and Europe for more than 28 years, Frances and Richard Johnston had dreamed of opening their own store when they moved to Cape Cod a few years ago.
When the perfect location in their new home town of Chatham became available, it was the answer to their dream. Opening Summer of 2008 to a warm reception from the local community as well as the summer visitor was especially gratifying. Being able to offer Fran’s’ entire collection of beautiful classic clothing to customers who are delighted to be in a store dedicated to dressing children as children is the Johnston's mission.

For Summer of 2009 we doubled the size of the store and added Womens Clothing and Gifts. We continue to expand our selection of handmade quilts, European toys and plush toys. “Frances Johnston ~ Chatham”, as the store is named, has become a "destination store" for those with discriminating tastes. This is THE PLACE to buy that special baby shower gift that will make everyone go "ahhh!"

We still have a large selection of hand smocked Christening gowns, Classic Communion Dresses, Holiday Special Occasion dresses, and more, which are available year round.
